Beacon Robot Empowers Smart Logistics Upgrade for a European Fastener Company’s Southeast Asian Factory
In recent years, the wave of automation upgrades in Southeast Asia's manufacturing sector has continued to gain momentum. Industries such as fasteners and precision hardware are increasingly plagued by challenges including labor shortages, inefficiencies in manual material handling, and insufficient production line flexibility. Recently, Beacon Robot successfully completed the delivery of an automated material handling transformation project for a European fastener company's factory in Southeast Asia. Leveraging composite collaborative robotic AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), the solution enables fully unmanned operations—from autonomous transport of workshop bins to automatic machine loading and unloading.
- Client Project Background
The client is a professional provider of fastener assembly technology solutions, primarily engaged in the processing of various standard/non-standard screws, nuts, precision connectors, and more. Their products supply industries such as automotive, electronics, and engineering machinery. With the continuous expansion of order volumes, the existing logistics model on the production line has exposed multiple bottlenecks:
(1) High labor costs and significant recruitment gaps for manual loading/unloading: Fastener bins are small in size but require high-frequency transport. Each assembly station needs dedicated personnel for continuous bin handling, leading to obvious staffing shortages.
(2) Prominent safety hazards in human-machine mixed operation environments: The workshop has narrow aisles and multiple cross-flow processes. Frequent manual shuttling between the workshop and assembly machines increases the risk of collisions and material drop-off.
(3) Inconsistent material flow and capacity constrained by human factors: The unstable pace of manual transport often results in either material shortages or bin pile-ups on the production line. As a result, the effective utilization rate of assembly equipment remains low, hindering the timely delivery of bulk orders.
Based on these pain points, after comparing multiple overseas solutions, the client ultimately selected Beacon Robot's integrated composite collaborative robot solution to achieve unmanned, integrated operations combining mobile transport and vision-based picking and loading/unloading.

2.Beacon Robot Customized Solution
To address the challenges of narrow workshop aisles, multiple bin types, and human-machine collaborative production, Beacon Robot adopted composite collaborative robotic AMRs as the core hardware, paired with its proprietary RMS (Robot Management System) intelligent scheduling system, to build a fully automated material flow system.
- Laser SLAM autonomous navigation chassis: No need for floor-installed magnetic strips or QR codes; adaptable to complex workshop aisles. Equipped with 360° safety laser obstacle detection, dynamic avoidance of personnel, materials, and equipment, and millimeter-precise docking at bin buffer zones and assembly machines.
- Collaborative robotic arm + vision recognition module: Equipped with a vision positioning camera to automatically identify the positions of different bin types and adaptively grasp them, completing the entire process from raw material bin loading to finished product bin unloading. Human-machine collaborative safety protection allows operation alongside personnel without the need for isolation fences.
- Customized flexible end-effector: Optimized gripper design for standard fastener bins, preventing spillage of small parts and ensuring stable, slip-free gripping.
- Data visualization dashboard: Records daily transport frequency, loading/unloading cycle times, and equipment utilization data, providing a digital foundation for lean production in the factory.

3.Project Results: Significant Client Benefits
- Cost reduction and efficiency improvement, freeing up production line manpower: After project implementation, multiple assembly lines eliminated dedicated loading/unloading positions. The robots ensure uninterrupted and stable transport, significantly reducing waiting time for loading and unloading.
- Human-machine collaboration, enhanced production safety: The AMR chassis features full-area safety obstacle detection with a 360° protection system. Multiple avoidance points are set in narrow aisles to ensure smooth and safe operations.
- Upgraded management, full-process traceability: Through the integration of the RMS scheduling system with the client's upper-level information system, the client can monitor AMR operating status, task progress, and energy consumption data in real time, achieving visualization and traceability of the material flow process.
The successful implementation of this project marks a new milestone for Beacon Robot in project delivery and service capabilities in the Southeast Asian market, while also laying a solid foundation for further expansion into smart manufacturing scenarios within the fastener industry.
