A single chassis, multiple variants: unleashing all the possibilities of the production line

2025-09-03

In the wave of intelligent manufacturing and smart logistics, Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) are evolving from single-function devices into highly flexible and customized intelligent carriers. As a pioneer of this trend, Beacon Robot leverages its independently developed AMR standard chassis technology, adopting a modular design philosophy of “core chassis + flexible upper structure" and outstanding scalability to provide the industry with a smart material handling solution that "adapts to myriad changes with a constant solution."

The core advantages of Beacon Robot’s AMR standard chassis lie in its high level of integration and openness. By incorporating high-precision SLAM navigation algorithms, a powerful motion control module, a multi-sensor fusion obstacle avoidance system, and a reliable power management unit serve as a reusable "intelligent mobility platform." This design not only reduces the complexity of developing upper structures but also enables the robot to quickly adapt to diverse scenarios:

1. Localization Compatibility:Supports both pure reflector-based localization and fusion localization, with end-point localization accommodating various methods such as reflective plates, QR codes, and magnetic tapes.

2. Load Scalability: The chassis load capacity ranges from 50kg to 5000kg, meeting diverse needs from light material handling to heavy equipment transportation.

3. Standardized Interfaces: Provides standardized interfaces for communication, mechanical installation, and upper-structure power supply, significantly shortening development cycles.

Leveraging the scalability of the standard chassis,Beacon Robot has developed four major types of upper-structure modules, forming a solution matrix that covers all aspects of production lines:

1. Latent Lifting-Type: Handles standardized racks, material carts, or bins to achieve unmanned, automated transportation tasks, representing the most classic application in warehouse logistics.

2. Liftingand Rotating-Type: Supports steering and handling, suitable for assembly stations requiring material direction changes or flexible operations in narrow spaces.

3. Roller/Belt Conveyor-Type: Easily interfaces with production line roller conveyors and assembly lines, enabling autonomous material transfer between production and storage areas with belt conveyors, eliminating manual handling gaps.

4. Collaborative Robotic Arm-Type: Equipped with lightweight robotic arms to perform tasks such as grasping, loading/unloading, and inspection, promoting the integration of "handling + operation."

In response to complex and ever-changing industrial environments, Beacon Robot’s scalability is further demonstrated through its on-demand customization capabilities. Based on the standard chassis, different upper fixtures can be customized, including upper structures capable of carrying multiple racks, containers, or tooling jigs. This allows a single AMR to transport multiple goods in one trip, significantly improving per-trip efficiency and reducing round-trip frequency.

Typical Application Scenario:

In a 3C electronics factory, Beacon Robot customized a "lift and rotary chassis + dual-station roller" solution for the customer. This achieved automated transportation of fully loaded Tray jigs and empty Tray jigs from the stamping workshop's unloading mechanism, QC inspection of semi-finished products in the stamping warehouse, fully loaded Tray jigs in the sandblasting workshop, and fully loaded Trays and empty Tray jigs in the electroplating workshop. The dual-station roller design enabled the simultaneous transportation of two sets of work-pieces, enhancing single-trip efficiency and production cycle punctuality.

Beacon Robot’s AMR standard chassis is no longer merely a standalone robot product but an open and valuable smart mobility platform. Based on this stable and reliable chassis, required upper functions can be quickly configured, establishing a flexible logistics system that closely aligns with specific business needs at the lowest cost and shortest cycle. This truly realizes the vision of "autonomous production line loading/unloading and seamless material handling," laying a solid foundation for enterprises advancing toward Industry 4.0.
