Beacon Robot's General Manager, Zhang Eryang, Discusses Core Technologies and Future Plans

Zhang Eryang, General Manager of Beacon Robot, previously worked in a foreign enterprise in the field of electromechanical engineering. In 2011, recognizing the business opportunities in the mobile robotics market, he decided to leave his comfortable job to challenge himself and embark on the arduous road of entrepreneurship. In 2016, he founded Suzhou Zhiweida Robotics Technology Co., Ltd., which was renamed Suzhou Beacon Robot Technology Co., Ltd. in 2018.
Mr. Zhang explained, "Beacon Robot is an innovative technology company specializing in the research and application of AGV/AMR. From the outset, we established our positioning—to build the most cost-effective AMR products by centering on highly qualified talent." Through continuously seeking outstanding talent, the company grew in 2018. Many core technical members of the team hold master's and doctoral degrees from top Chinese universities (C9 League), bringing deep technical expertise in areas such as mobile navigation, cluster management systems, electromechanical design, and project implementation. After developing the first AGV product for the automotive industry, the Beacon Robot R&D team continued to overcome technical challenges and actively explored mobile robot applications in various industries. As a result, the company has achieved core technologies and intellectual property rights in areas like mobile navigation, motion control, and sensor recognition.
Technology is the foundation for all applications. Mr. Zhang emphasized, "The core of AMR products lies in mobile navigation technology. Once you master the core technology and understand the specific characteristics of different industries, you can quickly create products that meet customer needs. Each industry has its own unique requirements, and we must understand the industry thoroughly to provide appropriate solutions."
Mr. Zhang elaborated on the company's current development and future plans, focusing on three key areas:
1. Significant Breakthroughs in Technology
Precision Navigation Technology: Mobile navigation is one of Beacon Robot’s core strengths. AMR products can achieve stable and reliable navigation in various environments, with end-point positioning accuracy reaching ±2mm, ensuring stability and safety. The breakthrough in precision navigation not only enhances the autonomy and intelligence of Beacon Robot’s mobile robots but also enables the company to meet the diverse needs of clients across different industries.
High-Efficiency Motion Control Technology: Beacon Robot’s AMR products have achieved hardware-limited speeds of 2m/s. Even in changing environments, the robots can maintain this speed while ensuring control. Efficient motion control is critical in industrial production, enabling fast and accurate actions, thereby improving productivity and safety.
2. Product Line Development
Currently, the AGV/AMR market in China is highly competitive. Mr. Zhang believes, "Companies must quickly define their positioning and direction to build their core competitive advantages. As our product technology matures and market awareness increases, we will focus on developing the unmanned forklift market." Beacon Robot has already launched the FMR series, consisting of four unmanned forklift models: the compact pallet stacker FL12C, the reach stacker FR16S, the forklift FT20, and the tow tractor FG30. These products feature rapid deployment, comprehensive functionality, easy integration with third-party systems, and high operational efficiency. To accommodate fast-paced production cycles, the R&D team has increased forklift operating speeds to 2m/s and introduced 'fork coordination' technology. This allows for real-time fork height adjustment during movement, eliminating the need for time-consuming adjustments at the destination. This innovation significantly enhances operational efficiency and meets the needs of various industrial production scenarios.
3. Customer Service
Beacon Robot places strict quality control across all phases of production, from vehicle components to final assembly. Safety management is continuously strengthened, and the company values customer feedback and experience. To make product operation easier, Beacon Robot has developed a teaching software system to help operators quickly master the product’s functions. The system will be continuously optimized and updated to ensure ease of use. During assembly, the vehicle's performance is repeatedly tested to ensure that the project meets all completion requirements, guaranteeing the stability and reliability of the final product and delivering satisfactory results to customers.
Finally, Mr. Zhang stated that Beacon Robot will continue to focus on the field of mobile robotics, with an emphasis on developing the unmanned forklift series. The company will continue to enhance its technical capabilities and product performance, expanding product applications into more industries. As the company strengthens its talent pool, it will actively explore international markets to achieve its global strategic goals.
